BUMC YOUTH

you are welcome here

WHO CAN BE INVOLVED?

Any sixth-grader through high school senior is welcome at events. Some are specifically for middle school or high school, but unless otherwise noted, all we welcome!

WHO CAN I CONTACT WITH QUESTIONS?

If you have questions please reach out to Chris Moss, Director of Youth Ministry at chris@birminghamumc.org.

YOUTH AM: Sunday Mornings in the Student Center

Right after the 10 a.m. service in the Sanctuary, middle and high schoolers (6th–12th grade) are invited to gather in the Student Center (the chapel building right off Birmingham Highway).

What’s Happening at YOUTH AM?
Come for breakfast, connect with friends, hear what’s coming up, and dive into Scripture together. We start as one big group and then break into smaller discussion groups: real talk and real growth.

Parents, We’ve Got You, Too!
While your student is at YOUTH AM, check out one of our adult Sunday School classes, including a group just for Parents of Teens. You’ll find details on our Sunday School page.

YOUTH AM meets every Sunday, unless there is a church-wide event (like Food & Fellowship) right after worship. We hope to see you there!

YOUTH PM: Sunday Evenings in the Fellowship Hall

5-7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted)
Open to all seventh through twelfth graders. Sixth graders, we have something special for you! Scroll down…

What’s Happening at YOUTH PM?
We kick things off with games and a snack supper, followed by announcements and small group discussions centered on the monthly theme or topic.

From time to time, we’ll use this slot for off-site fun—so make sure to check the calendar below or subscribe to our email list to stay in the loop!

SIXERS: A GROUP JUST FOR SIXTH GRADERS

Introducing… the Sixers (2026 Edition)!
We’re excited to kick off a brand-new year with our incoming 6th grade class: The Sixers: Bridging the Gap!

This special group is designed to help students make the exciting transition from elementary to middle school, with faith and fun leading the way. While older youth gather separately, Sixers will meet in the Student Center, completing their own awesome program full of connection, games, discussion, and growth. Throughout the year, Sixers will also join in special events with the full youth group and fully integrate with the youth in the new year (2027).

When? Beginning Sunday, August 9

  • Sundays from 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Youth AM)
  • Sundays from 5–7 p.m. (Youth PM)

Let’s start the year strong—bridging the gap together with new friendships, deeper faith, and a whole lot of fun in the Student Center!

CONFIRMATION

Why Confirmation?
Confirmation is an important step in a young person’s faith journey. In the United Methodist Church, it’s a time for youth to explore what it means to be a Christian, ask honest questions, learn about the church, and decide for themselves if they are ready to claim their faith as their own.

We typically invite 7th graders to participate, but older students are welcome—just reach out to Chris Moss to learn more. Whether your child is just beginning to ask big questions or is ready to make a deeper commitment, Confirmation is a meaningful and memorable experience that helps shape a lifelong faith.
