The word “advent” means “coming” – and during the Season of Advent, we’re making plans to welcome Christ into the world. This December at Birmingham UMC, we’re not only getting ready for the coming of Christmas, we’re preparing our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ!
BUMC 2024 ADVENT DEVOTIONAL
This daily devotional is written by your BUMC family to help you prepare your heart and your mind for the Christmas story. You can pick up a copy in the church office or access the digital version below.
2 p.m. Caroling
This event is organized by our Congregational Care and Connection ministry. Sign up below to go caroling to those in our church family who are unable to make it to church or need some extra holiday cheer this year. Families are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend. Singing voices not required; just a love for our church family. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, and will divide into groups. You will return by 5:30 p.m. at the latest.
4 p.m. Family Service
Looking for a kid-friendly service? This one is for you. There will be "The Unrehearsed Pageant," where every child can participate, favorite Christmas carols to sing, and glow sticks instead of real flames. Nursery will be available for infants and toddlers.
6 p.m. Traditional Service
A traditional Christmas Eve worship service with carols on the organ and piano, candlelight as we sing "Silent Night," and a message from Senior Pastor Mike Morgan. Nursery is available for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This service will be livestreamed to our website, Facebook, and Youtube channel.
11 p.m. Candlelight Communion
Led by the Sanctuary Worship Band, you can expect beautiful music, candlelight, and to receive Holy Communion as we ring in Christmas Day in this meaningful service.
