God is calling Birmingham United Methodist Church to create and nurture pathways where love grows, grace heals, and lives are spiritually transformed.

In the fall of 2025, Rev. Dr. Alissa Rothischild led Birmingham UMC leadership on a journey to find the unique calling placed on Birmingham UMC. The group met once a week to study Scripture, examined the role of the church in the world, looked closely at the needs of our local community, looked at the unique history and setting of the church, and, ultimately, discerned God’s unique call upon our congregation for the coming season.

THIS FALL, OUR WHOLE CONGREGATION IS INVITED TO EMBARK ON WHAT THAT MEANS.

During the month of October, we will affirm our Call Statement aloud in worship each Sunday, and Pastor Mike will lead us through a special sermon series focused on each aspect of the church’s calling:

·       Sunday, October 4 – To Create and Nurture Pathways (Scripture Readings: Isaiah 6:1-4, Ephesians 4:1-7, Exodus 3:1-12)

·       Sunday, October 11 – Where Love Grows (Scripture Readings: Matthew 28:19-20, Isaiah 2:2-3 and 43:19, John 1:35-42, 43-51)

·       Sunday, October 18 – Where Grace Heals (Scripture Readings: John 13:34-35, 1 Corinthains 13:1-8,13, Colossians 3:12-14)

·       Sunday, October 25 – Where Lives Are Spiritually Transformed Scripture Readings: Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, Galatians 5:22-23)
