Most of the children spent their Sunday School time today practicing music for next week and Christmas and didn’t have a lesson. So this devotion can really be an opportunity for you and your children to have a conversation/devotion about being thankful based on one of the songs we’ll be singing next week!

SCRIPTURE: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
”Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

LESSON FOCUS: These are some of the lyrics from a song we are signing in church next week. They are so easy to say but can be hard to live out during our busy lives. Be mindful of the message as you say/read/listen the words below!

“I like to think about the GOODNESS of the Lord, he gives me everything I need and so much more. So I just want to lift my hands, and say that I love him, I just want to lift my heart and pray. And I want to be THANKFUL, I want to be FAITHFUL, I want to remember everything that the Lord has done. I want to THANKFUL, I want to be GRATEFUL, I want to be!

DISCUSSION

  1. What does it mean to be thankful and grateful?

  2. How can we be faithful to God?

  3. How can we show others that we care about them?
