DESCRIPTION:All men in our congregation and community are invited to the monthly Men’s Grill meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday\, April 27. As always there will be food and fellowship. \nThis month’s speaker is Mathew Pinson\, President and CEO of the Georgia United Methodist Foundation since July 1\, 2021. The purpose of the Georgia United Methodist Foundation is to partner with congregations\, organizations\, and individuals in direct support of the ministries and mission of the church. In this way\, the GUMF is a ministry partner that lives out its mission to provide faith-based financial solutions for investing\, training and planned giving. \nAt BUMC\, we work have worked directly with GUMF on our loan\, and we think you’ll be interested to know all they can do to serve us as a congregation and individuals.

DESCRIPTION:Bob Meyers writes a weekly column for the Milton Herald on local history. He has written several books including Bygone Treasures and Timeless Beauties: Barns of Old Milton County. \nIn addition to writing\, Bob was previously in the US Diplomatic Service living in Panama\, Peru\, Chile\, Belgium\, and Switzerland. He was a member of the Tokyo Round Trade Negotiations for five years. Bob also served as the Special Assistant to the White House Staff Director under Jimmy Carter. \nFrom his diverse interests and past experiences\, Bob will speak on how these things shaped his faith. \nThis is the last Men’s Grill until the fall\, so we hope you can make it!

DESCRIPTION:Mark Goodman’s personal story has taken him from an abusive home life to being homeless on the streets of LA. Through this journey\, Mark personally benefited from the freedom found in forgiveness. Mark founded 70×7\, a faith-based nonprofit based around providing assistance for people hanging on to pain\, shame and blame from a past hurt to help them on their path to forgiveness. We get mixed messages and conflicting advice from everywhere.\nHow do we provide for\, lead\, and love our families\, and take care of our own needs? \nAbout the Speaker:\nDerek Struchtemeyer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia; and is in full-time private practice with Canton Counseling in Holly Springs where he primarily works with young adults\, couples\, and families. He is also active in the middle school and high school Youth Ministry here at BUMC. Derek has been married to the lovely Darby for 25 years this year; their son Logan will graduate from Georgia Tech this spring\, and their daughter Sydney will graduate from Sequoyah HS and pursue her music career.
